Fire damper testing and inspections
A fire damper register where every damper keeps its own due date
Import your damper register from a spreadsheet, test on site from the engineer's phone, and send the certificate and test report the same day. When a damper fails, retest that damper - not the whole site.

Why the register matters
Under Article 17 of the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005, fire safety equipment - fire dampers included - must be kept in efficient working order. BS 9999 asks for fire dampers to be tested at least annually, and faulty dampers repaired or replaced immediately (BS 9999:2017 Annex W, as cited in BESA Technical Bulletin VH001). BESA's own guidance calls for verifiable records and a full asset register.
That means a damper is only as good as the record that shows where it is, when it was last tested, and what happened. A spreadsheet can list dampers. It cannot tell you which one is due next week.
The register is one part of our fire damper testing software: tests, retests, certificates and inspections in the same app.
Every damper, its own date
- Import from a spreadsheet. Bring your register in once: building, floor, location, reference. No retyping.
- Each damper keeps its own due date. A site tested over three visits stays right, damper by damper.
- Due dates on one planner. Damper areas and retests sit beside every other job: to book, overdue, due soon and booked.

When a damper fails
- The certificate reads Satisfactory or Unsatisfactory, with a test report behind it.
- A failed damper gets a retest. The retest moves only the dampers retested - the rest of the site keeps its dates.
What the client receives
- A locked certificate and test report in your firm's branding, sent the same day. What was emailed is what is stored; corrections re-issue as Rev B with the original kept.
- A location plan with a dot for each damper.
- The legal line for the site's nation: England and Wales, Scotland or Northern Ireland.

Inspections between tests - included
Inspections are included with Fire damper testing and inspections at no extra cost. An inspection can bring a test forward when it finds a problem. It never replaces a test, and no certificate follows an inspection.
One price per report type
£90 a month for Fire damper testing and inspections. £150 a month for any two report types.

Questions
Can we import our existing damper register?
Yes. Damper registers import from a spreadsheet, with each damper's location and reference. Old reports, PDFs and photos stay where they are.
What happens when a damper fails?
The certificate shows Unsatisfactory and the failed damper gets a retest. Only the dampers retested move; every other damper keeps its date.
How often should fire dampers be tested?
BS 9999 asks for testing at least annually (BS 9999:2017 Annex W, cited in BESA Technical Bulletin VH001).
Are inspections extra?
No. Inspections between tests are included. An inspection never clears a test and never produces a certificate.
